Scenic Illinois is the overall mission and nonprofit entity organized by John R. Hedrick, an attorney and consultant with a broad background in government and business regulation who currently focuses on community development and urban design issues. For over twenty five years, John has represented corporations, nonprofits and local governments at the national, state and local levels. 
John is currently the state liason for the national Scenic America organization and founder of the Municipal Design Review Network now sponsored by DePaul University's Chaddick Institute. Through his broad experience with Boards of Directors and civic commissions, he is able to effectively balance these diverse interests.
Scenic Illinois supports public interest in community planning and design, and works with the national Scenic America organization to help civic groups and local governments shape how they want their communities to look and grow.
